Who are we?
For over a decade, various people working at Industry Canada in downtown Ottawa have been volunteering their time to organize language courses for their colleagues, and for anyone within the downtown area who is interested. The classes are held at lunchtime in boardrooms and professional teachers are hired to give the classes.
Students who have attended these classes enjoy them because they don't have to use precious time to travel back and forth to the classes and in wintertime, not going outside is an extra bonus! They also find that they learn more than if they would have attended evening classes, especially after already putting in a full day's work. They find the cost reasonable and also find it's another way to meet other people working in the Department.
In addition, it's easier to practice their new language skills because they often meet their fellow students in the hallways and elevators.
